What is Hospice? Our Services in LA & San Bernardino

A hospice is a program of health care and services designated to meet the special needs of patients and their loved ones, when the patient is diagnosed with a disease for which they do not elect aggressive treatment. We make our services as similar to home health care as possible. Our goal is to make sure our San Bernardino County and Los Angeles County patients feel right at home.

Can Hospice Make A Difference?

Hospice care can dramatically and positively impact the quality of life. Our goal is to empower the individual by providing knowledge and information, as well as to facilitate decision-making. Our clinical staff are experts on pain control and symptom management. They are committed to educating patients and care givers.

It all starts with an assessment and an explanation of hospice benefits. One of our nurses will visit the patient and family at home or in the hospital. We then determine if you will qualify for our program. We will contact the patient's physician for approval, which will then cause our services to be started immediately. No patient is denied hospice services based on ability to pay.

Terminally ill patients and their family and friends supportive and loving care, in tranquil surroundings, and the wherewithal to live fully and comfortably for as long as possible. Alleviating emotional and spiritual pain and controlling the accompanying symptoms are what we aim for.

While it may be futile to pursue aggressive treatments or surgery, a proper hospice program can provide attention, friendship, care and love. With appropriate intervention and utilization of the multitude of resources that are available for palliation and pain control, the last months, weeks and days of an individual's life can have quality, and provide loved ones with lasting memories of special moments. We respect the patient's right to be furnished with complete and current information regarding his or her medical condition.

This includes, but is not limited to the prognosis and the planned course of palliative treatment, as well as any significant risks that may be involved. Each and every patient shall have the right to refuse any and all treatments. Serenity Hospice Care exists to provide support and caring to persons and their families who are in the final phase of living. Our goal is to enable them to preserve their human dignity and enrich the quality of their life. We offer support for the family and/or friends continue after the death of the patient, for as long as necessary.
