Bereavement and Grief Support in Southern California
Compassionate Guidance for Patients’ Families
Grieving the loss of someone you love is a deeply personal experience. There is no single way to grieve and no fixed timeline for healing. Serenity Hospice Care provides bereavement and grief support to help family members understand their emotions, find helpful resources, and adjust to life after a loss.
Our commitment to families continues after hospice care concludes. From our office in Claremont, California, we support eligible families throughout Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Orange, and Riverside counties.
Support That Respects Your Experience
Grief can bring sadness, anger, guilt, anxiety, loneliness, or even relief after a long period of caregiving. These emotions may change from one day to the next. Some people want to talk, while others need quiet reflection, practical information, or spiritual guidance.
Our bereavement professionals provide a compassionate, confidential environment where family members can express their feelings without judgment. Support is adapted to individual needs, beliefs, relationships, and cultural traditions.
Our Bereavement and Grief Services
Available services may include:
Individual Grief Support
One-on-one conversations provide a private space to discuss difficult emotions, changes in daily life, and healthy coping strategies.
Grief Support Groups
Support groups allow participants to connect with others who have experienced a loss. Sharing thoughts and experiences can reduce isolation and create a valuable sense of community.
Family Support
Loss affects every member of a family differently. Our team can offer age-appropriate resources and guidance to help relatives communicate openly and support one another.
Spiritual Guidance
Non-denominational spiritual support is available for those who find comfort in faith, personal beliefs, reflection, or questions of meaning. Every individual’s values and traditions are respected.
Educational Resources
Grief-related literature and practical resources can help families understand common emotional reactions, manage difficult days, and develop healthy coping methods.
Ongoing Follow-Up
Bereavement support may continue through scheduled check-ins, supportive correspondence, referrals, and other resources based on the family’s needs and program availability.
Specific services, group schedules, and eligibility may vary. Contact our team for current information.
Who May Benefit From Grief Support?
Bereavement services are designed primarily for relatives and caregivers of patients served by Serenity Hospice Care. Support may be helpful for:
- Spouses and partners
- Children and other family members
- Close friends
- Family caregivers
- People experiencing anticipatory grief
- Individuals struggling to adjust after a loss
Community resources or referrals may also be available for people whose loved one did not receive care from Serenity Hospice Care.
Understanding the Grieving Process
Grief is not a predictable sequence of stages. It can affect sleep, appetite, concentration, energy, relationships, and daily routines. Anniversaries, holidays, and meaningful places may cause emotions to return unexpectedly.
Bereavement support does not seek to erase grief or rush the healing process. Instead, it helps people understand their reactions, honor the relationship they have lost, and find ways to move forward at their own pace.
You Do Not Have to Face Grief Alone
Serenity Hospice Care supports eligible families within an approximately 60-mile radius of Claremont, subject to program availability.
